Synopsis: This video examines the bet-timing of pre-flop raises. In general, more immediate raises will tend to weaken a raiser’s range, making it weaker. Players with strong hands (i.e., AA and KK, sometimes QQ) will tend to pause a few seconds to actually think about the situation or to convey uncertainty. The more complex a situation it is (e.g., a player who is 3-betting), the more reliable the tell is. This is only a slightly reliable tell, mostly applicable to weak players, as there are many players who raise quickly with strong hands or are consistent with their bet-timing.
