Daily fantasy sports’ connection to poker

Posted on January 6, 2016 by Zachary Elwood — Get a free poker tells course here

Here is a link to an interesting NY Times article titled "How The Daily Fantasy Sports Industry Turns Fans Into Suckers." Amongst other things, it delves into the connection of the fantasy sports world to the poker world: how many of the best fantasy draft players are former poker players; how many of the sites were started by people from the poker world, and how winning fantasy sports bettors ...

Guest blog post from poker player Daniel Steinberg

Posted on March 13, 2013 by Zachary Elwood — Get a free poker tells course here

I received an interesting email from Daniel Steinberg, who's an ex-poker-pro with some very good online and live results. He’s obviously got a lot of poker experience, so his opinions are worth listening to. I've included some of my responses to him in-line with his email. ...

Phil Galfond and some great thoughts on poker

Posted on June 12, 2011 by Zachary Elwood — Get a free poker tells course here

I had read the "Jman28 Well" thread on Twoplustwo.com about five years ago, then saw it was bumped just recently so I read the whole thing over again. If you don't know who Phil Galfond is, he's only one of the best players in the world. He's won millions beating up on high-stakes online cash game regulars under the screen name OMGClayAiken. His posts on Twoplustwo get highly-deserved accolades ...

Online players, live players, and tell-reading ability

Posted on May 22, 2011 by Zachary Elwood — Get a free poker tells course here

Live players get a bad rap from online players. You can find back-and-forth bickering from players on both sides of the aisle on a bunch of online forum threads. Online players insist live players are mostly horrible donkeys. Live players insist there’s a lot more to live poker than just pure poker skills (like live reads and social skills that increase action). Who’s right? They both are. ...

End of online poker for Americans?

Posted on April 15, 2011 by Zachary Elwood — Get a free poker tells course here

Shit has officially hit the fan for American online poker players. The screenshot to the left shows the message I get when I try to sit down at a real money table on Pokerstars today. Here's a link to a short article about Pokerstars, Full Tilt, and Absolute getting their domain names seized and being charged with bank fraud. Here's a link to the TwoPlusTwo thread about 'Black Friday' information. ...

Beginner thoughts on heads-up Hold’em online

Posted on October 3, 2010 by Zachary Elwood — Get a free poker tells course here

I played my first real heads-up no-limit cash games yesterday. I've played heads-up in tournament situations before but I've never played a pure heads-up game. I've been hearing so much about all the heads-up nosebleed action through Twoplustwo (Isildur, Durrrr, Jungleman, PA, and all those guys) that I got a little intrigued. I felt that working on heads-up would definitely improve my game. ...

Reviews/Testimonials

"I'm constantly impressed with how the info from your books has provided me value time and time again at the poker table. I started playing poker professionally last summer, and I can say that your books have easily added a solid $10/hour to my winrate, if not more. Thanks for all the hard work you've put into your material."

“Interestingly enough, your book has made me a better doctor. I work with many nonverbal children with developmental disorders who can't just tell you what they want and how they feel. Sometimes facial expressions and other forms of body language are all you have to work with.”
